Tormentas That Torment Us

Tormentas!I spoke too soon… The tormentas arrived to torment us tonight just before it got dark. Interesting that the Spanish call a thunder storm a tormenta, for that’s what it does. This was a big one though. And Aldea was right underneath it too!

Did you see the movie, Independence Day? Remember the way it got dark when they were underneath that giant alien spacecraft? That’s exactly what it felt like tonight in Aldea. You had a sense of impending doom - just waiting for whatever was coming…

It started with a rumbling. The rumbling got louder. Then small flashes of sheet lightening started. They increased until it became giant flashes of forked lightening that covered the sky. Then the hail and the rain started. The wind increased - quite considerably too! At its height there were flashes continuously with crashes of thunder that never eased. It was pretty spectacular!

The photo doesn’t do it justice, but that was more or less the scene from our balcony tonight just before it became impossible to stay there.
