Cool in Extremadura…
After a week of warm weather, it has been much cooler this week, which is kinda surprising for the second half of May. We were getting used to the temperatures being in the upper 20s, and now that they are in the lower 20s, it feels positively cool!
One plus in all this is the lack of wasps. I guess most people in hot countries just accept wasps and other bugs as a natural thing, but I can’t. I guess I never will. I just hate anything that buzzes around and can sting. Heck, even if it can’t sting, I hate it buzzing around!
The nights are getting progressively lighter now. With just a month or so until the summer solstice, we’ve fully forgotten just how dark it gets in winter. But of course, it won’t get as light at nights here as it did in Shetland where we’ve just come from. There it never really gets dark at all in mid summer.
Do I miss Shetland? Not yet. Will I ever miss Shetland? Probably not, to be honest… I tried my best in every way for too many years back there, but got damn little back in return. At least here in Spain I am treated as I am found - not as they presume I am or should be.
OK, rant over… Until next time…
